Accelerating your career in Information Security: A Phixer's Story
Prophix has grown more than two times in the last four years and is on track to continue to scale and evolve the financial operations of its global clients. Steve Smashnuk shares how the people, culture, and purpose at Prophix come together to create a challenging and rewarding organization to be a part of.
What is your role here, and how have you made an impact?
I started at Prophix four and half years ago as the Program Manager, Information Security and Compliance. A former colleague of mine introduced me to Prophix; he sold me on the direction and vision of the company, but it was the culture and the people that drew me in. I was excited about the problems Prophix was solving for businesses. Over the past few years, it’s been extremely rewarding to see the work our team has done to improve the SDLC process at Prophix and the impact it’s had on the growth of the company. It seems like only yesterday, but it’s been an incredible ride so far, and I feel like we’re just getting started. Our growth trajectory, and the solution roadmap for our global client offerings, are exciting both from a career and technology perspective.How does Prophix support the development and career growth of its people?
Great careers happen here. Prophix is the kind of place that notices your contributions, hears what you want to do next, and makes it happen. When I was ready for my next challenge, I was quickly promoted to an area that interested me and where I could stretch my skills. This is not just my experience nor the exception at Prophix. We meet people where they are in their careers and find out how they’d like to grow. There is proof of this everywhere. Just last week, for example, several Phixers were promoted, some up and others laterally, to help develop their career path and further their exposure to the organization.How would you describe the culture here?
In a word, “together”. Together we can make a difference in everything we do.
