Company Information:
- SirsiDynix is a recognized leader of solutions and applications for libraries and the communities they serve
- Their customers include Adobe, Stanford University, the British Museum, and the European Parliament.
- Operating since 1979
- Employees: 250-500
- G/L: Microsoft Great Plains
Problem:
Historically, the company used spreadsheets to track and compile their personnel-level accounting details for actual, budgeted, and forecasted figures. To do this, the finance team manually retrieved data from their HR and payroll systems. With such a reliance on manual processes, team members spent more time than they would have liked analyzing disparities between budgeted figures and actual numbers, and pinpointing errors in order to correct these discrepancies. In some instances, employees would work for several hours to produce a single report.
Solution:
In 2011, SirsiDynix focused on developing a better understanding of their compensation practices and chose Prophix’s Detailed Planning Manager (DPM) to specify the variances in their compensation accounts. With DPM, SirsiDynix could now compare planned versus actual figures, with the ability to drill down to such personnel specifics as geographical location, department, and individual.
SirsiDynix’s ROI:
- Detailed Planning Manager implemented in 5 days
- SirsiDynix now builds on-demand personnel reports, specifying variances between budgeted and forecasted figures
- Produces more accurate budgets by calculating information (including earnings, taxes, and benefits) at a personnel level
- And more…
