Prophix competes for charity in the Mississauga Dragon Boat Festival

“Prophix! Prophix! Prophix!”

The team cheered as they collected bronze medals at the Mississauga Dragon Boat Festival on Sunday June 8th, 2014. With only two strenuous training sessions under their belts, the team put forth a valiant effort, proudly competing against some of the best dragon boating teams in the Greater Toronto Area.

This year’s event was held at the Mississauga Canoe club. 100% of the funds raised went to Cardiac Kids in support of SickKids Foundation. Prophix exceeded its goal of raising $10,000 with a total of $12,098! The Prophix team contributed over $1,700 and thanks everyone for supporting the venture!

This was the first dragon boating for most of the team’s members and an experience they will never forget. Prophix enjoyed representation from nearly all of the company’s departments, including Sales, Marketing, Development, Channels, Professional Services, IT, Education & Training, Quality Assurance, Accounting, and Customer Service.

Learning how to paddle in sync using the proper ‘ reach’ technique did not come naturally at first, but team captain Suolon Hu (from Prophix’s IT group) imparted his 19 years of dragon boating experience and the team learned quickly. Suolon began coaching in 1999 with his team, the Flying Shanghai Noodles. (We are still waiting to hear the story behind the team’s name.) Thank you, Suolon, for leading the team to success!
